This North Street bakery makes the most amazing croissants ever, and they boast authenticity to both Parisian training and Portland roots. Belleville, open since 2017, began with a love story between owners Amy Fuller and Chris Deutsch. Their love of each other and fine cuisine carried them to France for culinary training before bringing them back to the East Coast for their first bakery concept in Washington D.C. and finally to Fuller’s native Portland.
Belleville’s success has multiplied each year and boomed so much during the pandemic that there’s a new production facility in the works to meet the demand for 600+ pastries every day. When we moved Eliza out of her apartment last weekend, we picked up several croissants and they were the perfect way to treat ourselves after a morning of hustling. Inventory sells out daily, but you can preorder a day ahead to make sure you don’t miss out.
