Whether you’re trying to counterbalance the holiday calories or simply seeking some fresh air, Portland Trails are the perfect escape. With more than 70 miles of accessible trails, Portland Trails is a valuable (and scenic) network designed to connect people with places. Incredibly, the network reaches within a half mile of every resident of Portland, offering everyone free access to recreation and green space. More than a million people use the trail system each year, so the popularity of this community gem is indisputable.
I love so many of the trails, but my personal favorite is the Presumpscot Trail that runs along the Portland side of the Presumpscot River. It’s great for walking and mountain biking, and – most importantly! – it’s dog-friendly. The Fore River Parkway is another one that I love for its great water views and easy access.
Let me know when you hit the trails – maybe I’ll see you there!
