For almost 50 years, Preble Street has been offering critical assistance to our community’s most vulnerable residents, extending help and hope to low-income and homeless families. What began as a way to train University of Southern Maine social work students has evolved to a full-fledged resource agency that provides access to case management and a range of services including healthcare, employment counseling, mail and laundry, clothing, meals and more.
With a mission to provide barrier-free services, Preble Street protects and empowers those in need with both crisis care and long-term assistance. The wide spectrum of services and the organization’s ability to adapt as needs change has been incredibly impactful for clients experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, hunger, and poverty. Founded with pioneering activism and continued with humanitarian spirit, Preble Street is a pillar of giving in our community, passing opportunity along to those most in need.
