Sebago to the Sea

The Sebago to the Sea Trail is one of my favorite regional projects, not only because of the hiking but because its purpose is to connect communities while creating greater access to the natural beauty of our landscape. The idea for the 28-mile trail goes all the way back to 2007 and the initiative, undertaken in phases, involves many collaborative partners and supporters.

Stretching from Sebago Lake to Casco Bay and winding alongside the Presumpscot River for much of its length, the trail welcomes hikers and mountain bikers. The beautiful scenery varies from one end of the trail to the other, encompassing old forests, footbridges, and lakefront vistas.

There are multiple places to park and embark on the trail, so click here for more information.

The last time we went, we parked off of Pond Road in Standish and hiked to the sandy beach (about a mile and a half) with the pups. It’s a great little swimming spot and, by the time you get there, you’ll be ready to jump in!
