Roux Institute

Given that my daughter is a senior at Northeastern and on her second co-op,  it’s the perfect time to share more about the Roux Institute at Northeastern University.

The institute is a recent venture launched in the spring of 2020 by tech entrepreneur David Roux, who invested $100 million in the university to promote access to advanced tech knowledge and skills development. Through an innovative model that brings businesses to the table with students and instructors, the Roux Institute was specifically designed to educate Mainers for career success in digital and life sciences sectors – two major growth industries in our local economy.

The institute’s certifications and graduate level degrees focus on practical applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence that align with high-demand, high-compensation jobs. In the last year, it’s already been a catalyst for economic growth in greater Portland, with huge potential impact for the long-term synergy that attracts more and more tech-based enterprise as our academic research capabilities and workforce talent expand.

I love that this concept came from David Roux’s love of Maine and wanting to give back to his home state. It’s just the beginning, but the Roux Institute is here to transform the future of opportunity and prosperity for a lot of people.
