Portland Art Gallery

Since Maine is an artist haven, Portland is a natural focal point of incredible artistic talent. From the permanent exhibitions showcased in the Portland Museum of Art to the collectible pieces represented in our galleries, we have an enviable arts scene. One of the most prestigious private galleries here is Portland Art Gallery, situated in the heart of Downtown on Middle Street. Portland Art Gallery represents contemporary Maine artists who work with mixed media, paint, and sculpture in genres ranging from pop and abstract to figurative realism. One of my favorite artists and a fellow North Haven native, Eric Hopkins, is represented by the gallery. His work (pictured below) is a celebration of the Maine landscape and a vibrant complement to the exhibitions of fellow artists.

The gallery is open every day from 10 to 5:30 and features a special evening exhibition on the first Thursday of each month. Artists whose work is currently on display at Portland Art Gallery include Scott Bowe, Willa Vennema, Rick Hamilton, and Allen Bunker.
