Twelve

This brand-new restaurant is already big news… it was named one of America’s 50 best restaurants this September, just months after opening on the Portland waterfront. My girlfriends and I were lucky enough to check it out just days after their official opening. It was well worth the visit!

The team at the helm of this notable spot has extraordinary pedigree, coming from leading roles at the world’s top-ranking restaurant, Eleven Madison Park, and exclusive New York hot spot, Per Se. Their experience and success speak volumes. Executive chef Colin Wyatt had an established reputation in Maine before his storied stint on the New York scene, and it was that early exposure to Maine’s culture and people that inspired him to return to Portland. Being a part of the community and sourcing local ingredients that honor Maine’s landscape are the priorities that Wyatt shares with manager Daniel Gorlas and pastry chef Georgia Macon.

Twelve blends elegance and approachability in a rebuilt 150-year-old building formerly known at ‘Building 12: Pattern Storehouse.’ The menu, available a la carte or prix fixe, is a perfect representation of modern New England dining, with emphasis on fresh-caught seafood and seasonal local ingredients. The dining room is open 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are strongly recommended. Click here to explore the menu and plan your visit to Twelve.
