Since North Haven is my birthplace and family’s home, the North Have Foundation is especially important to me. This community-based nonprofit has been operating for more than 50 years to support education both on and off the island through direct funding and partnerships that promote learning opportunities for students of all ages.
The primary mission and one of the most important threads of funding supports college counseling and scholarships for post-secondary education. In addition to supporting extra curriculars at the community school, the Foundation annually helps about ten students and their families with the expenses of college tuition. On an island with fewer than 500 year-round residents, the North Haven Foundation promotes access to the broadest opportunity while honoring the unique way of island life.
