Welcome to Brunswick

Brunswick is home to Bowdoin College and is consequently a town filled with cultural and educational activities. Bowdoin College Museum of Art, open to the public, is included on the National Register of Historic Places. Lectures, exhibits, and classes are often offered to the community, and the campus provides hiking trails where one often finds community members walking well-behaved dogs. As is inherent in many college towns, cultural diversity is mirrored in Brunswick’s restaurant offerings.

The town is filled with green spaces and towering trees, grand old historic homes as well as small neighborhoods. Downtown Brunswick’s Maine Street also reflects the diversity of ages as well as cultures in the variety of small shops. August brings an annual Outdoor Arts Festival that includes not only two-dimensional art, but sculptures, fiber arts, Maine-made products and gourmet food products. The Farmer’s Market is found outside in the summer at a local farm with large numbers of local farms represented. In the winter, the market is inside at an old mill; locally made breads, dried herbs and seasonings, fiber art products, and woodworking art is displayed at small kiosks within the building.

Hiking trails and bicycle trails are here to explore, and Thomas Point Beach hosts musical events as well as providing great swimming, a playground, and exploration. Brunswick’s train station schedule features daily trips to Portland and Boston.
